ABSTRACT

This research aims to: 1) applying character education of the school character in SDN 1 Sigli, 2) knowing what are the character’s values of school culture that are being applied in SDN 1 Sigli, 3) knowing what are the resisting and supporting factor of character education of school culture in public elementary school 1 Sigli. This is a descriptive research using qualitative approach. Research subject consists of one school principal, six teachers, two extracurricular teachers, 3 students of IV, V and VI grades, and school committee. Research’s subject selection has undergone a specific consideration. The experiment is carried out in SDN 1 Sigli. Data collection technique using interview, documentation and moderate observation because the researchers only do several activities done by the speaker. Data analysis technique used during this research using Miles and Hubberman’s interactive model i.e data collection, data reduction, data presentation and summary retraction. The research’s result shows that character education implementation through the school culture applied in SDN 1 Sigli involves intracurriculer such as tadarus, one day one ayat, mass gymnastic, flag ceremony, holiday commemoration, go to the library. Beside those intracurriculer activities the implementation of character education through school culture is also manifested in extracurricular activities such as TPS, ICT, marching band, play or drama, dalail, khairat, and shalawatan.
