Analisis Kesalahan Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal HOTS Matematika Tipe TIMSS berdasarkan Newman Error
Keywords:

The low results of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) have become the government's benchmark for improving student competence. Students are required to think highly in solving various mathematical problems by training students to use HOTS type questions. This study aims to describe the types of errors and the factors that cause errors in the TIMSS type HOTS questions based on Newman's Error Analysis. This research is descriptive qualitative research with class VIII research subjects at Mts YMI Wonopringgo. Data collection techniques using HOTS tests and interviews The causes of errors that are often made by students are found in four aspects, namely misunderstandings, transformation errors, errors in process skills, and errors in writing answers, including the inability to write the method of completion, errors in translating problems in mathematical language, lack of accuracy in calculations, emotional management in working with students. problems, and poor time management.
